Apryl Day is a proud Yorta Yorta, Wemba Wemba and Barapa Barapa woman. She is a community organiser and an activist for justice and police accountability. She is the daughter of Tanya Day, a proud Yorta Yorta woman who died in police custody in 2017. Apryl and her family led a successful campaign to end the criminalisation of public drunkenness in Victoria and continues to lead efforts for justice and police accountability. Day is the founding Executive Officer of the Dhadjowa Foundation, a national grassroots organisation providing strategic support for families seeking justice for First Nations people who have died in police custody.
