Christopher Pyne is a retired Australian politician who served in the Howard, Abbott, Turnbull, and Morrison governments. He held various ministerial roles, including Minister for Ageing, Education and Training, Industry Innovation and Science, and Defence Industry. Notably, Pyne delivered Australia’s $200 billion military build-up and introduced significant reforms such as compulsory literacy and numeracy testing for teaching graduates and improved phonic education in remote schools. In 2006, he founded headspace: the Youth Mental Health Initiative. Pyne also represented the division of Sturt in the House of Representatives from 1993 until his retirement in 2019.
