Helen Connolly is the inaugural Commissioner for Children and Young People for South Australia, appointed in April 2017. With over 30 years’ experience as a leader in human services, in this role Connelly advocates at a systemic level for the rights and interests of children and young people, directly engaging with them to seek their views, and with a special focus on children who aren’t usually heard. She approaches her work from a community participation, citizenship and rights-based framework, supporting individuals, communities and systems to place children and young people front and centre.
