Josie Clarke was only five when her dad Glen became a paraplegic in a workplace accident. The incident would shape her perspective on life and stories of disability. At 26, Clarke pursued a PhD in gene editing for crop improvement while living in Mexico and China. A finalist in the 2022 AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award, Clarke advocates for inclusivity and diversity in agriculture through her nonprofit. Additionally, she established Red Dirt Talent to empower rural individuals in media and industry engagements. Recognised as a trailblazer and winner of various awards, including the Harvey Norman Weekly Times Shine Award, Clarke strives to create opportunities and accessibility in the agricultural sector.
